Susie Hoffman

After retiring from teaching sixth grade, Susie began her adventure in art.

She started in watercolor, but has branched into work in most all media.

She and her husband, Larry, created an art center in Copperopolis where

she has organized and enjoyed classes by many excellent foothill artists

over the last decade.  From pastels to oils, she is always eager to try something new.

Susie presents a variety and a plethora of paintings, ranging from portraits

to local landscapes.  She is constantly working toward making art that is

loose and unrestricted.  “Often your best paintings are the ones you spend

the least amount of time on because they are fresh and painterly.”

Taking great pleasure in painting with others, Susie teaches beginning oil

and watercolor, and offers drop-in days to fellow artists at her home studio.

She has also organized group trips to beautiful places—from oil painting in

France to watercolor in Ireland and pastels in Croatia.

Susie has received numerous top awards in shows throughout Northern California,

including Best of Show at the 2019 Motherlode Art Association Show.

She has judged several shows, most recently the 2021&22 Amador County Fair

and Delicato Vineyard Show 2023.  Her work has been published in several books,

covers of art show programs and TV guides, and local newspapers.
